We're Broke

Continuing Resolutions are a continuing failure

Here we go again.

Congress is about to pass another continuing resolution to keep the federal government operating for the next several months.  Why?  Because politicians like Tammy Baldwin have refused to make the tough budgeting decisions her constituents face every day.

This piecemeal approach to government funding offers a clear example of what’s wrong with Congress.  The federal government has ballooned in size while our country plunges further into debt because even Baldwin’s healthy appetite for raising taxes can’t keep pace with her relentless desire to grow government.

In 2010, Senator Baldwin supported a Substitute Budget authored by the Congressional Black Caucus.  This proposal would have repealed the middle-class tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 and shoveled that money into more unnecessary spending.  The plan was so clearly reckless that a majority of House Democrats opposed it.

No wonder Tammy Baldwin has been named one of the most liberal members of Congress.
